The NMP PASYADA Program

The Pasyada Program is the NMP's
contribution to the Philippine Government's
Beat the Odds Program through Tourism launched
to boost inter-island commerce, trade, domestic tourism,
and agro-industrial opportunities.

The NMP recognizes the need to address the needs of the Filipino
seafarers to be truly competitive in the global maritime labor market
and strengthen their persons to attain their fullest potential in the workplace.
The NMP also acknowledges that, as Filipinos, these seafarers blend work with leisure and also
value the family. Moreover, studies have shown that a competent, rested and   well-motivated
crew is an essential factor in reducing operational costs in shipping by increasing efficiency, safe operations and protecting the ship owner's investment.

It is in this context that the NMP is offering this Pasyada Program for Filipino seafarers as a complement to its maritime training program course offerings. In cooperation with the Department of Tourism (Regional Tourism Office 8), Seamen's Wives Association of the Philippines, Inc. Region 8 Chapter (SWAPI) and the NMP Services Association (NMPSA), tour packages or self help tours for families, barkada and classmates and livelihood/investment opportunity sessions for the family members and/or dependents are made available, subject to certain costs and charges.

How to Avail

A seafarer must enroll in any of the training courses offered at the National Maritime Polytechnic to avail of the packages offered under the Pasyada program. While the seafarer is attending training, the members of the families or group of friends can join the livelihood and other activities offered by the SWAPI during their stay at the NMP. Out of town tour packages may be availed of during weekends.
